Please take the time to read this very long listing. I believe you will be glad that you did.I am NOT a Barbie expert . I did search as best as I could and the information in the title of this listing is what I believe is correct. I could be wrong . Also, I looked at other listings and attempted to include the information that seemed to be important. I'm sure I missed something. Feel free to ask questions if that will help you to better identify this doll. Again, information outlined here is only my best guess. Please make your own determination before bidding.Now having said all that...I am 64 years old and this was MY Barbie doll . She was given to me as a gift in, I think, 1961 or 1962. One aunt got me the Barbie and a Barbie doll case (it was black but I can't recall what design was on the front) for clothes. Another aunt hand made all the clothes (!!) and the case was packed full. I am very, very sad to say that after moving from coast to coast and other places in between many times over the past 50+ years, what you see here is all that is left.This listing is for that doll I received as a gift all those years ago. It is all original and has not been altered or touched-up in any way.This is what I found on the right side of her butt:Barbie (with the circled R)PATS PENDMCMLVIIIby Mattel Inc.The left side has the number 3. There is a V 33 on her right inner thigh.Hair : I THINK this is the color they called Brownette. I looked at many, many pictures and those called brunette seem much darker brown than this doll. Although the pictures I saw of brownettes tended to look a bit more red, it's so difficult to be sure with online pictures. I tried to take pics in different lighting so you can decide for yourself, if that's possible. Hair is a little flattened on left, probably from being stored on her side at some point, but I assume that can be fixed with a little TLC.Face : The eyes and eyebrows are good but there is a bit of the black worn from the eyelashes and the red lipstick is worn away some. There is no green on either ear.Fingers & Toes : The red polish is still there on both her fingers and toes and I think it's in remarkably good shape given her age but it is worn away some.Body : The torso is lighter in color than the arms, legs, and face. The knees do not bend. There are no holes in the bottom of her feet. There are some indications that she was played with but nothing I found to be significant. There is one very small dark mark on the back of one leg. She's been stored in a variety of places for over 50 years but there are no offensive odors of any sort on doll or clothing.Clothing : There is one-half of a snap missing from the skirt. All other pieces look to be in their original hand made shape.Extras : I also found in the bag a blue suitcase and a pink Mattel Barbie shirt which I will include.I struggled for some time about even doing this listing and then struggled some more about what to use as a starting bid which, I admit, includes some sentimental value. If you find it out of line, I apologize in advance but ask that you please just scroll on by and not feel like it is your duty to point out that I may be a crazy old lady :-)Please feel free to ask questions. I'm sure I didn't include everything that's important to you as a collector. And again, please be sure you are comfortable and confident in YOUR identification of this Barbie before you bid.
