Overview This is a stunning example of the beautiful Rolex Oyster Speedking Precision dating from 1961. The trend for gents watches in the 40's was to make them smaller and they're now known as 'mid-size'. With the fashion for larger watches these are now very much unisex. This Oyster Speedking has a stunning, Rolex signed silver dial and finely gold steel hour batons. The perfectly straight gold hands provide a stunning contrast against the silver almost pearlescent dial. The highly polished solid stainless steel case is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear. The original Rolex signed winding crown is working perfectly and the very high grade Rolex signed 17 jewel movement has just been fully serviced by my watch maker. I've added a new, high quality black leather strap with after market Rolex steel buckle. Watches of this quality and condition are extremely rare and highly sought after - if history is any judge they will only increase in value. As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days for the UK, twelve days if overseas, in the same condition. The Case The solid stainless steel screw down case is in very good condition, with only minor wear which is to be expected from a watch of this age. The case measures 30mm wide, excluding the rare original winding crown and 36mm, including the lugs. The inside back is signed 'Montres Rolex SA', 'Geneva Switzerland Patented Stainless Steel' and the case reference of '6421'. It is date stamped '11.61' making it quarter 2 of 1961. The Dial The original and beautifully elegant Rolex signed silver/pearlescent dial is in exceptional condition with perfect, original hands and finely applied gold hour batons. It is signed ‘Rolex Oyster Speedking’, 'Precision' and 'T Swiss T'. The minute markers are as crisp as they day it was made and the lens shows no signs of wear or scratching. The Movement The original Rolex signed very high-grade 17 jewel movement is in crisp, very clean condition. The movement has been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It is signed ‘Seventeen 17 Jewels’ and ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss’. The Strap I have fitted a new, high quality black leather strap and an aftermarket Rolex steel buckle to complete this delicious watch. Rolex Box I am able to supply authentic Rolex boxes if required. They are from the 1970's/1980's and if you are interested please mention when bidding. Whilst I supply high quality boxes as part of the price the Rolex boxes do help complete the watch and retail at £120 or £75 if bought with a watch. The Conclusion This is a rare and highly collectable vintage watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy.
