Overview This is a beautiful example of the iconic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-king Super Precision dating from 1961. The solid steel case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The original Rolex signed slightly off-white dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is classically Rolex. The applied gilt (gold colour) spear head hour batons and original gilt hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and gleaming case. The very high grade '1530' perpetual (automatic) movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by our professionally watchmaker. To complete this delicious watch we've added a new, high quality, dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with steel buckle. Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after - if history is any judge they will only increase invalue. As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within 14 days in the same condition and with a recognised courier. The Case The provenance polished solid stainless steel screw down case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The case measures 33 mm's wide, excluding the Rolex signed winding crown and 40 mm's, including the lugs. The inside back is signed 'Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland Patented', 'Stainless Steel' and the case number of '5500'. The age stamp is '1.61' dating it to 1961. The Dial The original and stunning slightly off-white Rolex signed dial is just beautiful and classically Rolex. The applied gilt spear head hour batons and gilt Rolex hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and steel case. The outer minute ring is as defined as the day it was made. It is signed ‘Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-king’, 'T Swiss T' and 'Super Precision'. The lens has been replaced and shows no signs of wear or scratching. The Movement The original Rolex signed very high-grade automatic movement is in excellent condition. The movement has just been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It is signed 'Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss', '2 Two Positions Adjusted', 'Twenty Five 25 Jewels' and the calibre is '1530'. The movement reference is '05388'. The Strap This watch sits on a new, high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches dark brown crocodile skin strap with steel buckle. The Conclusion This is a rare and highly collectable vintage watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy.
