In 1962 Thunderbird was still "Unique in all the World". The Landau coupe was a hardtop, luxury version with avinyl top with S bars on each side. Although vinyl tops were not new, the Thunderbird may have started the vinylroof craze as they became very popular afterwards. The car's wheelbase was 113" with an overall length of 205".It's curb weight was 4320 lbs. Powered by 390 cid, 300 hp engine, it had a top speed of 126 mph and would do0-60 mph in 8.9 sec. Pretty impressive for such a heavy car. Power reached the wheels though the Ford Cruise-O-Matic3 speed transmission. This model has many operating features such as opening doors, hood and trunk, pivoting sun visors, tilting front seat backsa working suspension, removable spare tire, antenna that raises and lowers and removable fender skirts. The steering worksand the steering wheel has a "Swing-Away" function. The center console can be opened and closed. The color is Raven Black with a black vinyl top and a light beige interior. The interior is beautifully detailed as is the engine compartment and underside. This is a Limited Edition # 1811.This model has been displayed. I am not the original owner. Paperwork consists of a title with a name on it, unpacking and care instructions and an ad. This is a very excellent and rare example of Danbury Mint's engineering, with outstanding
