1962 Gottlieb Rack A Ball Wedgehead Pinball Machine with Backbox Animation: is a VERY early Gottlieb wedgehead pinball machine with backbox animation. And best of all, IT IS FULLY WORKING! If you're looking for a challenging machine for your collection or gameroom that will keep making you play "just one more game," look no further. Although the playfield layout and strategy may be considered simple when compared to newer machines, it is JUST challenging enough, and JUST prevents you from mastering it, that it can make you pull your hair out. Trust me... In addition to trying to score as many points as you can, the main objective is to cancel all twelve of the rollover lanes scattered throughout the playfield. As each one is cancelled, an animated ball pops up in the backglass and rolls down the ramp towards the left side of the glass. This continues to happen as you hit more and more of the twelve different rollover lanes, with animated balls continuing to register in the backglass. You can keep track of the number by looking at the numbered graphics on the backglass below each ball. The more balls that you have showing, the greater chance you have to win a free game! Once you hit ten, eleven, or even twelve, you can even win multiple free games, but getting that many isn't as easy as it may seem! That's why you'll be playing "just one more game." Over and over again! This is a fun machine to play with some skill (and luck) involved in really having a GREAT game. Although this machine is technically mechanically unshopped, other than having all of the bad bulbs replaced, it is working very well through a game with all features and functions seeming to work correctly. Being an EM machine, it will have an occasional glitch now and then, but they are only very occasional. For the most part, everything is working great, but let's say 99% correct just to make sure the minor occasional glitch is covered! T is pretty good action on the playfield with good pop from the pop bumpers. The backbox animation is working flawlessly, it seems, by shooting balls into the animated alley each time that it should and correctly releasing them at the start of each game. About the only thing you may want to do to achieve the optimum performance would be to do a minor tune-up of cleaning a couple contacts and t (maybe on the end of stroke switches of the flippers to give them a little more strength,) and swap new rubber rings for the existing ones, but beyond that, you shouldn't have to do much, if anything, except plug it in and start to play! The original backglass is in pretty nice shape for an original glass. It is missing a little bit of solid blue paint at the very top above the letters in the name. Because it is all background solid blue color, you could easily touch it up to make it less obvious, but honestly, it really doesn't look bad the way it is. Besides that, t are a few very minor nicks/chips in the paint in spots, but no flaking and nothing that is really noticeable. The backside of the glass has been sealed to prevent any further problems with the paint. The colors are nice and the period graphics are outstanding showing people playing pool while a couple dances in the background in front of a jukebox! Although this isn't a perfect glass, it's in pretty nice shape and definitely shows well. (It was reproduced a few years back, so you may be able to find a perfect one, if that is your desire. But in the meantime, this glass will definitely suffice.) The playfield paint is in excellent condition. T is a LITTLE bit of wear immediately next to a couple of the round pop bumpers, but nothing too serious. Otherwise, t are a few minor nicks in the paint in spots, but nothing that you can really even notice unless you really look at it close. All of the colors are very bright with no sign of any fading.
