Check out my E-Bay Store for High Grade Vintage Baseball Coins and Pins!Up for auction is a 1962 Shirriff Potato Chip Baseball Coin Set of 200 different coins. This Very Rare Set is a Canadian version of the Salada Junket plastic player coins issued in the U.S. Backs specify an issue of 200 coins; 21 players from the Salada set were not issued by Shirriff. Because the Canadian coins were produced after the U.S. version they are not found with all the variations known in Salada. Shirriff coins were packed in bags of potato chips, with each coin sealed in a clear cellophane wrapper. The Canadian coins are much scarcer than the U.S Salada coin because of only one print run compared to two print runs of the Salada coins. When is the last time you came across a complete 1962 Shirriff Baseball set? I have only seen a handful of Shirriff Baseball coins for sale on E-Bay over the past year. I purchased this Shirriff set from a collector that took him over ten years to complete. The 2015 Beckett Catalog of Baseball Cards has this set listed at $2,000Just last year, Two PSA graded Shirriff coins sold for Record Prices in the Andy Madec Spring Auction:1962 Shirriff Coins #41 Mickey Mantle PSA 9 Mint sold for $7251962 Shirriff Coins #150 Roberto Clemente PSA 10 Gem Mint sold for $1,715The coins in this sharp-looking set grades in Near Mint condition. read more
