According to this is "fast becoming one of the Holy Grails of British comics". It was the first of the DC Thomson Summer Specials and led to a tradition of Dandy and Beano Summer Specials from 1964 with a whole host of other titles thereafter. This copy was originally purchased in March 2003 from the comic legend that is Phil Shrimpton () and was graded by him at the time (I feel rather conservatively) as VG. Since then it has been stored in the manner you would expect for such a rare piece but it is now time to make space for my true love the Dandy annuals. The comic is unfolded and is beautifully flat with lovely bright colours and only minor loss. The most noticeable damage is to bottom of the spine which extends through the first six sheets (see photo). There is also a 25-30mm tear just under the price on the front cover and also minor chips and loss around the whole perimeter of the front and rear covers. The rear cover is also missing some small pieces at the bottom. Having said all that, this comic is still in really nice condition. Internally there is little or no damage to mention. There is no sign of foxing and the pages are a light brown colour. The staples are solid and holding with no signs of rust and none of the cover loss extends into the comic strip it self.
