1965 BOEING CH-47 HELICOPTER GUNSHIP Factory PHOTO is a 1965 BOEING CH-47 HELICOPTER GUNSHIP Factory PHOTO in nice condition (SEE PHOTOS). What a great find!!!! This is a rare item indeed. It is a Boeing First Official Flight factory photo for the ACH-47A Chinook Armored Gunship. This is from Boeing Public Relations. The sheet which was once glued to the back (now has come off) of the 8 x 10 photo states that this is the first flight of the U.S. Army's Armed CH-47A Helicopter at Boeing's Vertol Division. The auction also includes a 2 page letter in regards to the CH-47A First Flight which is also from Boeing Public Relations. Originally known as the Armed / Armored Chinook - A/ACH-47A, the designation was changed to the ACH-47A when the Army standardized its model designations, as per Army Regulation 70-50. The leading "A" (special mission symbol) became Attack, the "C" (mission symbol) stands for Cargo, the "H-47" (Basic mission and type symbol) stands for Helicopter -47, the "A" (series symbol) stands for the first model design.
