Here we have a 1965 Wolseley Hornet, made all the rarer thanks to it still retaining the early "Mini" styling ie: the sliding windows and interior door pockets, the pull handles on the door exteriors and of course the magic wand gear lever! Hornets and their sister car the Riley Elf are highly sought after these days and are commanding huge prices. But the vast majority of them tend to be the later Mark 3s with the more conventional wind down windows, flush door panels and a straight gear shift. This old girl, with only 52,000 miles on the clock, has been dry stored for the past four years when it was last tested. I would imagine, however, that she will need very little to pass her next MoT. She started up immediately with a drop of fresh petrol and the engine sounds as fit as a proverbial fiddle" She goes through her gears smoothly, drives and stops. She has a really nice interior with the just the right amount of patina to the original green leather seats. The four years of standing only appears to have taken its toll cosmetically, and even then only to the usual and highly predictable areas. The photos (taken today) show her as she is and so you will note the surface rust to the tips of the bonnet on either side of the radiator. Again, it's the usual place and an easy cosmetic repair.
