Extremely clean 1966 Fender Bassman Head in very nice condition. In the last year I have disassembled the amp and thoroughly cleaned it inside and out, polished and waxed the metal surfaces and faceplate, touched up the Tolex, and cleaned the pots, jacks, and tube sockets, and set the bias. The Tolex looks great. The faceplate is excellent. The metalwork has been polished and looks very nice. The chassis straps may have been replaced - I can't remember for sure. The metal glides are new. Serial number A 18086. The tube chart is stamped "PB" indicating 1966, February. The tube chart states "AA165", however the circuit is actually a hybrid AA964 and AA165: the phase inverter was rewired to the more desirable earlier AA964, while also maintaining the desirable elements of the later circuit. This work was done by Fender Amp specialist Carruth Electronics - who is the amp tech for Trey Anastasio of Phish. At the same time all the electrolytic capacitors were replaced with Spragues, all out of spec resistors were replaced with carbon comp Allen Bradleys, and a 3 conductor power cord was added. The power tubes are RCA branded 6L6GC, though they are actually Sylvania manufactured tall bottle STR type 6L6GC. They measure as new, look new (with the exception of the printing being somewhat rubbed off on the glass), and are matched for current read more
