This was put out by the Ford Dealership at the end of 1965 for promoting the 1966 Mustang. I've seen quite a few with electric motors, but the one has a gas motor and slicks. I got this at an estate auction and it was in the original box. I don't think this has ever been used. The gears are in perfect shape and motor turns freely with lots of compression and no gas smell. Ts a light scuffing mark on the roof from going back and forth in the box. I found some literature on the web that I'm adding. The AMF/Wen Mac "Motorized Mustang GT" Poppy Red hardtop was a Dealer Promotional Model offered in the fall of 1965. It is 16" long, approximately 1/12th-scale. It was sold through Ford dealers for $6 originally and $4.95 during the Christmas selling season. It has knock-off wheelcovers, standard interior (without console), simulated V-8 engine (valve covers and block done in interior color), GT-like stripes (originally packaged for owner installation), and molded plastic license plates. The battery-operated motor propels it forwards and backwards. It has working headlights, taillights and dashboard lights. The body is plastic and the chassis is steel. The front wheels are adjustable for steering. Mine also includes the optional $2.50 conversion kit for racing buffs that includes a gasoline engine and slicks. I have these installed, but read more
