This was put out by the Ford Dealership at the end of 1965 for promoting the 1966 Mustang. I've seen quite a few with electric motors, but the one has a gas motor and slicks. I got this at an estate auction and it was in the original box. I don't think this has ever been used. The gears are in perfect shape and motor turns freely with lots of compression and no gas smell. Ts a light scuffing mark on the roof from going back and forth in the box. I found some literature on the web that I'm adding. The AMF/Wen Mac "Motorized Mustang GT" Poppy Red hardtop was a Dealer Promotional Model offered in the fall of 1965. It is 16" long, approximately 1/12th-scale. It was sold through Ford dealers for $6 originally and $4.95 during the Christmas selling season. It has knock-off wheelcovers, standard interior (without console), simulated V-8 engine (valve covers and block done in interior color), GT-like stripes (originally packaged for owner installation), and molded plastic license plates. The battery-operated motor propels it forwards and backwards. It has working headlights, taillights and dashboard lights. The body is plastic and the chassis is steel.
