Extremely rare and hard to find 1966 University of Texas yearbook, the very year Charles Whitman climbed the tower t and opened fire on the campus below. What I find absolutely bizarre about this book is the fact that it was published AFTER the sniper tragedy and they included a memorial page for the v ictims. The bizarre aspect?---Along with the names of students and staff he brutally murdered, Charles Joseph Whitmans name is included as one of "victims" memorialized on this page. Anyway, Charles Whitman wasn't the only famous person to attend the UT that year. Also attending was the, then unknown, Farrah Fawcett. Farrah was voted one of the 10 Most Beautiful women on campus, and she is pictured with the other 9 winners. She is pictured again the student pictures with her fellow Delta Delta Delta sorority. Whitman is pictured with his Architectural Engineering class, and also pictured is his best friend Larry Fuess. Fuess was one of the last people to see Whitman before the mass murder. He dropped by and visited on the night of July 31, 1966 actually interrupting Whitman as he wrote his confession and suicide letters. The next morning, August 1, 1966 Whitman climbed the tower, after first killing his wife and mother, and opened fire, shooting a total of 43 people before he himself was gunned down while still on top of the tower. read more
