Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins' 1967 Camaro SS A/MP Drag Race Car Sadly the great Bill Jenkins died in March 2012 at the age of 81 He was actively involved in drag racing for over 50 years, a co-founder of the Pro Stock class, and a true legend. For the 1968 season, grumpy received a new '68 Camaro SS396 from Chevrolet to compete in the Super Stock class. He still had his '67 Camaro SS396 from the previous season, and he decided to modify the '67 car to run in the A/Modified Production class. The A/MP class was a more advanced and faster class than the Super Stock classes that were so popular in the 1960s. Modified Production rules allowed more modifications such as multiple carburetion and larger than stock engine displacement. Taking advantage of these rules, Jenkins installed an L88 427 in the '67 Camaro, along with one of the very first edelbrock tunnel ram intake manifolds and 2 holley 4 barrel carbs. The Modified Production class was very similar to and the forerunner of the Pro Stock class.
