Airship and Aviation Collectibles 1967 German Commemorative Cover for Ferdinand Graf Zeppelin, Signed by 3 Former Crew Members This 1967 German cover commemorates Ferdinand Graf Zeppelin. It is post marked for Friedrichshafen on 8/3/67 The cover is made more notable by bearing the signatures of three former German airship crew members. Hans von Schiller , one of the German officers close to Eckener, was on board the LZ-126/ZR-3 Los Angeles delivery flight in October 1924. He was also an officer aboard Graf Zeppelin (LZ-127) on most of its flights and, in 1937, skipper of the Graf. Heinrich Bauer , one of Eckener's airship officers, was elevatorman on the round-the-world flight of Graf Zeppelin and also on Graf's Arctic flight in 1931. He was Second Officer and a survivor of the Hindenburg's final flight. Bauer was also a skipper of the Hindenburg's sister ship, LZ-130 (Graf Zeppelin II). Oskar Rosch was a mechanic on the Graf Zeppelin. The cover is in overall clean condition but does have some gentle creasing across the lower left and right quadrants (see image) Nevertheless an interesting collectable with three signatures of individuls who played a role in the history of German lighter than air craft. A note about the signatures on our items: Most of the signatures on the items we sell were collected in person by the current owner. As a researcher and writer he had the opportunity to meet and interview many individuals who played a role in the history of American and German lighter than air craft and also in the field of arctic exploration. The signatures were collected about 30 to 40 years ago and all are authentic. A few of our items have signatures that date to the time period of the item. To the best of our knowledge these are also authentic signatures. We try to image these in close up to provide the best visual evidence to the buyer. We welcome questions. Please read the following: We appreciate prompt payment but we recommend that you wait for our invoice before paying. This allows us to combine shipping and make sure that you do not overpay. Invoices go out shortly after the close of the auctions. Many of our buyers purchase multiple items each week. We combine shipping and handling before sending the invoice. Occasionally an error occurs. Our goal is to charge only a reasonable amount for shipping and handling to cover cost of materials. If the shipping amount in your invoice appears excessive we do not mind you contacting us before payment if you have questions. We will adjust for any errors. Shipping and handling: We use the calculator to estimate the mail cost and include a handling cost in the final calculation. This allows the buyer to get a realistic estimate of what shipping and handling will cost before buying. For most items we charge a modest $1.50 for handling. Some items may require special packaging and handling charges for these will range from $2 to $5 depending on the item. We will list such special charges in the item description.
We pack carefully (see our feedback comments) and factor into the calculation the additional weight needed to securely ship delicate items. If you have questions about our shipping and handling or have special shipping needs please contact us. A note about shipping: Our goal is to get items out as promptly as possible. However, we can only promise prompt shipping not instant shipping. We aim to get items out in a few days but it depends on volume and the type of packing required. Items go out in 2 to 4 days on average and no later than the weekend following payment. As our feedback shows, we ge...
