1968 Williams Hayburners II 2-Player Pinball Machine with Backbox Animation: And they're off! This is a great machine for the horseracing fan or horse lover. The graphics depict horses and horseracing everyw on the backglass, playfield, plastics, cabinet sides, and best of all, in an animated horse race that progresses in the backbox as you are playing the game! T are six horses that reset back to the starting line (to the right side of the backbox) and then "run" down the track as you hit certain targets on the playfield. The first one to reach the finish line (towards the left of the backbox) is the winner! Another great feature is that this is a t wo-player machine! In addition to the great animation in the play and overall nice cosmetics that this machine offers, the horse and horseraceing graphics are just outstanding and will definitely add a nice touch to your gameroom or collection. If you want to add a machine to your existing horse-themed decor, you won't find many with more horse related graphics than this one! The machine is mechanically unshopped and is going to need some mechanical attention to the startup sequence, but once you get beyond that by manually triggering relays in the bottom cabinet, the game functions all seem to be working fine through a five ball game for either one or two players. A couple of the score reels are a little sticky and sometimes need help in resetting to zero, and the turret shooter is somewhat tempermental at the start of a game, but once again, when you're fully into a game, it seems to work fine (another issue tied to the startup sequence, I think.) Once in game mode, the animated horses are resetting to the starting line and running like they should during the game, getting to the finish line and lighting their number on the backglass, etc. T is pretty good action on the playfield with strong flippers. In summary, it isn't what I would consider plug and play, but beyond the startup sequence, once in game mode, it seems like everything is working correctly through a game, including the zipper-flipper function. The original backglass is in fairly nice shape, but does have some imperfections. It has a very thin vertical scratch near the middle, and a couple other smaller scratches in the numbers 1 and 6 near the bottom. In addition, t is some cracking of the paint in the solid whites from the corners of the score reels, and a few other missing nicks thorughout, with a missing area of paint (about 3/4" wide by 1/2" tall) below the thousands digit of player 2. I'm probably making it sound worse than it really is! Although this glass is far from perfect, it still presents itself pretty well in the machine with few imperfections in directly backlit areas. The colors are nice and t is no sign of any fading. With some strategic touchups, this glass can be made to look even better, although it is presentable in its current condition. All six of the original animated horses are in place and are all in great shape with bright colors. The cardboard backdrop scenery is also in place with a couple small creases in the cardboard and one small tear, but nothing terrible. It looks nice. The playfield paint is in very nice shape, with a VERY NICE shine . T is no wear to speak of, but t are a few small nicks/chips in the paint to keep me from calling it perfect. None of the imperfections are real bad nor detract from its nice look. The colors are nice and bright with no sign of any fading. All of the plastics are in excellent condition with no cracks/breaks. The bottom metal playfield apron is also in real nice shape with only a couple minor nicks/scratches. The instruction and score level cards are missing. Overall, I don't think you'll be disappointed with this playfield! It looks that nice.
