Beautiful fold-out map of Earth's Moon, published five months before the first lunar landing, more than 41 years ago.
This handsome map is lithographed in full color and opens to a generous 28" x 42". It was prepared by the National Geographic Society, noted for its highly detailed and attractive cartography, and it includes an index of the Moon's seas, mountains, and craters.
The map depicts both sides of the Moon's surface — the near side and the far side, the one that's always turned away from Earth, along with information on the Moon's phases, gravitational influences, cycles, libration, topography, and more. Printed text at the bottom of the map describes the Apollo Mission — "the most daring excursion in the history of human endeavor."
This is an original , authentic National Geographic Society map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It was published as a supplement to the February 1969 National Geographic Magazine . It's a valuable reference and would make a handsome display.
