Hello all!! 2007 is going to be an incredible year for auctions!! It was a fantastic summer of cast iron hunting last year. I generally collect but I have been having fun with these auctions so I'm picking up "extras" when I find them now & offering them to all you collectors out t on Ebay. I hit all the garage & estate sales, flea markets, antique shows & some Ebay treasures!!!! I have banks manufactured by AC Williams, Hubley, Astro/Duro, Chein, Arcade , J&E Stevens , Kenton and many more. I have branched out into some of my other cast iron interests, mainly doorstops & paperweights but I have some unexpected surprises as well. You are bidding on an original 1969 cast iron Cat Boat Mechanical Bank. Produced by Utexiqual in 1969, this is it's history. The Kenton Hardware Co. produced toys very successfully from 1920-1935. It never quite recovered from the depression and Kenton ceased production in 1952, assets were sold in 1953. The Littlestown Hardware & Foundry acquired many Kenton toy designs and marketed them under the brand "Utexiqual". Littlestown folded in 1982. This bank is one of their 4 original Richards designs, the other three being the Fisherman's Luck bank, The Bowling Bank and the Birdie Putt Bank. The action is cool, you put the coin in the arm of the distracted waving sailor (the sail is in the forward position) and the old captain ducks as he changes the sail, it flys back and clocks the unsuspecting companion in the back of the head, pitching him forward as he deposits the coin!!!!! Works fine. Limited Edition of these banks, this has the #767 on the trap! The bank is in great shape! The paint is 99%+ intact with just a few nicks & t This bank is hard to come by in this condition!100% original paint, t are no cracks, chips, breaks, repairs or damage of any kind other than any stated. The seams are tight, the pieces align well, has the original screws. Excellent detail in the metal & paint. This bank is listed in Kovels price guide in 2000 valued @ $925. Get this bank while you have the chance!! Modern mechanical banks that are made in low production #s are the sleeper investments for the future! Think about it, anything with this low a production run, especially in mechanical banks, has huge upside potential. They are relatively undiscovered at this point in time!!! This has great cross collectability as well. I suggest to the winner to print a copy of this auction, it will increase the resale value of your purchase tremendously having this information as a hard copy along with the bank. You are paying for this information, make use of it! Plus it's fun to look back in 20 years and say I only paid $200 for that way back when. Most of the banks today selling for $200-$400 were $15-$50 in the mid 1970's, big money when the reference guides I have were printed. Please ask any and all questions before auction ends.
