This is a large 45 mm (1 ¾ inch) in diameter, 70-gram (2.4 ounce) High Relief PURE SILVER Medal, part of a New York University Hall of Fame of Great Americans, honoring 19 th – 20 th century Jurist Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (1841-1935). The medal was sculpted by Joseph Kiselewski (1901 - 1986) who also sculpted the 1945 33 rd issue of the Society of Medalists. It was struck by the Medallic Art Company (MACO) in 1970. Among Kiselewski’s other medals was the 1945 33 rd issue of the Society of Medalists. This is serial number 612. The Holmes medal is in MINT condition, in the BOX, WITH the original insert.
