Kamakura pens is located in Kamakura, Japan with a branch in OkinawaDetailed Description is one of the more interesting Platinum Pens that I have found in the last twelve years. In Japan this pen was called the Platinum Platinum. These pens were made in the early 1970's. During this time, the Parker 75 was being sold in Japanese Department stores, and the Japanese pen makers were a little surprised by how popular the Sterling Silver Parkers were. Not to be outdone, Pilot released several models of their Custom line in silver, and Platinum came out with this pen. This pen was at the top of Platinum's line. Platinum made smaller silver pens like their Galaxy, Cloud and Rivera models, but the Platinum Pt. was the largest and most expensive. The cap and barrel are solid sterling silver in a wonderful cross hatch engraving, Several of these pens had a Platinum alloy nib, but this one is a 14K rhodium or white gold nib, which held the iridium tip better. The same pen is pictured on page 369 of Lambreau's Fountain Pens of the World book. This image in the book helps to show just how large this Pen is compared with some of the other Platinum pens.
