Vintage Yamaha Guitar FG-180, 40+ Years Old Gorgeous Condition, Barely Used with Hard-shell Case This was my brother's, bought new in 1970 or thereabouts. He rarely played it, and gave it to me ten years ago, and I rarely played it. I wanted a flat-picking guitar because my finger-picking guitar has a wide neck and impossible (for me, anyway) to flat-pick with any speed. But, good grief, that skinny neck on the Yamaha was something I never got used to. Now I'm looking at the number of years I have left and am downsizing my goals. I want to continue learning everything Merle Watson ever finger-picked (ho ho ho) and I'm trying to learn how to frail on the banjo, which as Steve Martin said, is not even a word in the stupid dictionary. The serial number is 1621728 if that means anything to you. It is has the red label inside the body and "MADE IN JAPAN" on the back of the headstock as pictured. I've kept the guitar in a smoke-free home displayed on a stand. I see no signs of warp on the body (front or back) and the neck seems to be straight as well but, I'm no expert. I've got some bronze-wound strings on it that probably could be replaced but it has a gorgeous tone when I strum G, which is about all I can manage.
