THE ever popular Morris Minor Traveller ceased production in April, 1971. Here we have one of the last built, a Traveller first registered in June 71 and fitted with the then obligatory steering wheel lock on the key as opposed to the traditional Minor key in the middle of the dash! It is totally feasible that her mileage of 27,000 I correct. When she was rescued from dry storage in 2008, she had been tucked away for 20 years. She had, in essence, only been on the road for 17 years and at the time of her rescue, her mileage was 26,000 (photos to prove). She then underwent major restoration - including all new timbers - in 08/09. Today her mileage has still not reached 28,000. So, yes I would have there is every chance of it being correct! I quote from Ray Newell's excellent book on the Essential Buying Guide for the Morris Minor: "During the last months of production, some of the vehicles assembled at the Morris commercial plant at Adderley Park, Birmingham, were fitted with steering column ignition locks." With the AVERAGE price of Travellers now running at 8k-plus, I am once again proud to offer a delightful Moggie at a fantastic price for its new owner.
