My brother was a big baseball fan and attended many games in the early 1970s. We recently found in the attic, this old New York Yankees program from a Washington Senators/Yankee game that I think took place on April 20, 1971. The cover and first few pages are missing (pages run from page 5 through 24), but what remains is in excellent condition. T are 9 autographs, mostly in pencil. From the Yankees are catcher - Thurman Munson (he died in a plane crash a few years later), pitcher - Mel Stottlemyre, infielder - Gene Michael, outfielder - Curt Blefary, and in black marker, the then President of the New York Yankees - Michael Burke. He preceded George Steinbrenner. From the Washington Senators are infielder - Tom Ragland, pitcher - Denny McClain (the last major league pitcher to win 30 games, he won 31 games in 1968) and outfielder - Elliott Maddox. As a bonus, my brother also got the autograph of Alex Webster who was then the coach of the New York Giants football team. The program has photographs of Steven Kline, Thurman Munson, a group picture of the coaching staff for spring training which included Whitey Ford, Elston Howard and Mickey Mantle, the Yankee broadcasting team which included Phil Rizzuto and Whitey Ford, and a full page photo of Mel Stottlemyre with his 6-year-old son, Todd. Todd Stottlemyre went on to have a lengthy, productive, major league baseball career as a starting pitcher. My brother was very neat and made some notations on the Yankee game schedule. He also kept the box score of the game on the pages provided in the center of the program. My brother is now an author and a horse racing handicapper of some note. If you need a letter certifying the authenticity of this program, I'm sure it could be arranged. Please email any questions. Payment via Paypal, personal check or money order is accepted. Winning bidder to pay $3.00 for 1st class shipping and handling plus an additional amount for insurance. Cost of insurance will vary depending on the final auction price.
