This is a 1972 Longines-Wittnauer, Inc. Sterling Silver Commemorative Oregon Country Coin. This coin is 33.66 grams of .925 sterling silver. This coin commemorates James Polk's 1844 Campain to set the northern boundary of the Oregon Territory at the 54th Parallel. A comprimise two years later set it at the 49th Parallel. The campaign slogan "Fifty-Four Forty or Fight" goes along the bottom front of the coin along with images of various things. Back tells the brief story of this fight for land and has a stage coach depicted on the bottom.
