1972 President Harry S. Truman Single Signed Baseball & Letter. Collectors of Presidential singles tend to be a dedicated and stubborn breed, as one would have to be to take on such a difficult and frustrating task. While even modern Commanders in Chief pose some obstacles, the rarity-meter starts to really glow when you get back to the man who popularized the phrase "The Buck Stops Here." The presented Truman single stands as the finest known, and not just for the 9/10 blue felt tip signature that blesses the OAL (Cronin) orb. The President's own letter of provenance sets this beauty apart from the rest, as Truman's 7/10 blue ink signature closes the included typed January 18, 1972 letter which reads, "Dear Ed: Your recent letter and package containing the baseball have been received. I read your letter with much interest and appreciation. I am returning the baseball autographed as you requested in the box you have already provided and hope that your son, Eddie, Jr., will enjoy having it in his collection. Sincerely yours, [signed] Harry S. Truman." Full LOA from PSA/DNA for both baseball & letter. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Grade: 0, Service: Authenticated, Service No.: 2214406
