1974 Fender Vibrolux Reverb I love this thing, tonal perfection. Picked it up at a shop in Cincinnati about two years ago, Serial No. is B55342 (see pictures), and it is in fantastic shape. It must have been sitting somewhere for a long while, because when I bought it, it still had some of the RCA original preamp tubes in it... Sounded great when I picked it up, but couldn't resist taking it into Kevin Silva of Uncle Albert's Amp Repair here in Indianapolis to get a once over and the Blackface Mod. This guy is the real deal and does work on stuff from Vintage Fenders to Dumbles, for players all over the country, and he really made it shine. He replaced a few caps that had drifted out, and like I said before converted it to Blackface spec (see: /articles/article2.htm ) So this is to my knowledge identical to the Blackface Vibroluxes from just a few years earlier. Grillecloth was replaced with period-correct silver/blue cloth due to some cosmetic damage, but the rest of this amplifier looks, in my opinion, fantastic for a 37 year old Fender. I wouldn't have it any other way. Completely retubed it not too long ago: JJ 12AX7s and 12AT7s, and SED 6L6s... and it sounds better than it ever has. Only have about 3 practices and 3 shows on these tubes, so they should be good as new for you. ALL Original Mains Plug / Reverb & Trem Footswitch read more
