1.157 ounces of .999 silver. Struck for the Connecticut town of Manchester. There were probably 2000 pieces struck. I guess that because this medal was found in a hoard of 740 pieces and each was numbered. This medal is numbered 1867 on the side next to the fineness and the mint mark. The mint mark is in the fictitious shape of a "pilgrim" hat. The medals were likely ordered for the bicentennial. There are probably many such medals that were struck around the time of our nations bicentennial. I found only one previous sale of one such medal on the internet through my search efforts. I believe this is quite rare. I also believe this type of medal is treated as bullion. so bid accordingly. The medal will be sold with the holder in the photo. There were two holders found in the same general location as the medals. All of the medals weighed appox. 1.16 ounces, or nearly read more
