This surface imprint case came my way in 2006. It never had an insert in it because it was a Q.C. reject. The top wouldn't completely close. I managed to fix that, but scratched the chrome below the hinge in the process. Those 3 light scratches are the only marks in the chrome. No dents, dings or other scratches. All the original paint is intact but has flaws. The surface imprint process was new in 1977. The words are small, & they fade a little as they make the turn south but they're still readable. The insert is an unfired correct one. Possibly rare. It's hard to find a 1977 surface imprint process Zippo to start with. This one might be the only one that didn't go to PUERTO RICO.
