This auction is for a metal pewter-like cast plate celebrating the General Electric GE Company's 100 year centennial, 1878-1978. The front of this 9 1/2 inch diameter plate has a raised image of Thomas Edison, the original founder of the company along with small circular images of company milestones and products developed during its first 100 years. At the bottom is "GE 100, 1878-1978." This plate was given to honored employees in 1978 for outstanding service to the company. On the back is an engraved enscription, common to each of these plates issued, celebrating the event that began on October 15, 1878, when Thomas Edison formed the Edison Electric Light Company. This plate would be of particular interest to present and former employees of GE or anybody who has an interest in the history of corporate America. This is a no reserve auction.
