For auction is my 1978 Gibson J 50 Deluxe. This guitar plays and sounds beautifully. It has that recognizable vintage J 50 sound. It is a players guitar and I mean that in so far as it has appropriate bumps and scratches of a 34 year old guitar. There is a repaired and tight crack at the end of the finger board treble side. It has a tight crack in the back (I'm not sure if it is all the way through) that is 2 3/4 inches long. The bridge seems to have shrunk in width on the treble side. You can see in the picture that there is a placement score from when it was manufactured. The bridge is tight and secure and the intonation is good..I have replaced the old tuning machines with New Kluson Deluxe period tuning machines. I have also replaced the plastic bridge pins with bone bridge pins with black dot inlays. The distance between the twelfth fret and the E string is 1/8" and has room to be lowered. The neck is straight and the truss rod is working. There is plenty of wear left on the frets. The serial number is 71578025.The case is scraped up and the hardware has some corrosion, but all work fine. There is no key though. Please e-mail me if you have any questions. If you have played a J 50 and loved the sound, you will love the way this one sounds.I SHIP ONLY TO THE LOWER 48 STATES.
