1979, BU, Costa Rica Commemorative Silver Cien (100) Colones , "International Year of the Child"! A beautiful BU Silver Crown prize collector coin. '79 was the United Nations "Year of the Child", and many counties struck silver commemorative coins. Costa Rica minted only 14,500 . 5000 Proofs & 9500 BUs, this is a BU. Some are mislabeled, but the proof has a frosted background. 42mm in diameter, I'll have to ship in a plastic flip-I just don't have a capsule large enough! 35 grams of .925 Sterling Silver, and a whopping 1.041 ASW ounce. Silver Crown, low mintage, BU, what's not to like? Collectors rarely get a chance at a choice gem like this! S/H & tracking will cost $3 .50, if that's to high, please do not bid. Thanks for looking, and Toby. Further research on several web pages has turned up rumors of the Costa Rica Mint havingmelted down some of these coins that did not stand up to their Quality Cont rol Department. Which may indicate there are fewer coins out of a n already low total mintage ! Also, I'm going to hunt down a capsule for this massive Crown. Thank you, Toby.
