1979 Pickard China Gold Christmas Plate MIB MINT From 1976-1981, Pickard China produced a limited edition series of Christmas plates, decorated in the middle with reproductions of Grand Master religious paintings from collections held by the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Each reproduction is surrounded by a wide etched and gold encrusted rim, and has the painting's title and artist, plate year, Pickard backstamp and number in gold. This is the 1979 plate, The Adoration of the Magi by Sandro Botticelli (Italy 1444/45-1510). Measuring approximately 8-1/4" in diameter and in its original box with styrofoam protector, this plate is in MINT condition. It is #101/10000, a REALLY low number for this limited edition series. We are offering similar plates in this series in other auctions, all in MINT condition in their original boxes, some with COA pamphlets. The original offering price on these plates was $70, and you don't often find them in such fine condition in their original boxes.
