1980 PROOF SOVEREIGN SPECIFICATION COMPOSITION: 916.7 Gold 83.3 Copper Diameter: 22.12 millimeters Weight: 7.988 grammes/0.257 troy ounce This example of one of the best known gold coins is in its original Royal Mint presentation box and plastic case with original certificate. The reverse, as with all sovereigns since 1887, depicts the classic portrayal by Benedetto Pistrucci of St George on horseback slaying the dragon. The obverse depicts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II based on the fine Arnold Machin portrait that has been used on most UK coins since 1968. Re listed due to 'reversal' of payment after an irregular PayPal payment from buyer.
