Margaret Furlong , a studio artist with Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics designed a five year series of porcelain shell angels. I believe this angel "The Caroler" is the first in the series and is 1570 out of 3000 angels produced. Each angel is numbered and signed by the artist. This is the first of seven angels that I possess, all of them were produced in the 1980's. As years went by she started making limited series of 10,000 angels so the angels from the 1980's are all limited editions of 3000. The angels I have are rare . They are all 5 " angels and all are signed limited editions of 3000. Central to the design of these angels is the scallop shell, a classic motif that has been used throughout the history of art. Its innovative use makes these designs truly distinctive. Each angel is hand assembled from 8 individually made components. Fired to 2381 degrees F. is transformed into translucent bisque porcelain. Margaret Furlongs charming angels are designed in celebration of Christmas and reflect the joy and love found in the true meaning of the season. Each exclusive ornament is an art treasure destined to become a family heirloom. Each ornament comes with a silk ribbon and a plastic stand. In 1981 her ornaments were featured on the White House Christmas Tree. T are many avid collectors of her works and you will find alot read more
