1980 Michelsen Sterling Silver Christmas Spoon Fork Denmark This is an UNUSED Christmas set, spoon and fork, from 1980. It is in the original box with the Michelsen pamphlet, specifically for this year's Christmas set. It is gold plate on sterling silver, with an enamel design on the handles of the spoon and fork. The design is The Mask, and the artist is Egill Jacobsen. On the back of the spoon and fork you can see the Christmas date (Jul) 1980 and "A. MICHELSEN STERLING DANMARK". Each piece measures about 6 ½" long. They are definitely a collectors' item, but equally can be used for dessert and look wonderful and festive set on a table. The production of these sets of Annual Christmas cutlery started in 1910 by Anton Michelsen, a Danish Crown Jeweler. Each year he employed a local artist each year to design a new Christmas set of 24K gold plate on sterling silver. T is an enamel design on each spoon and fork, special for that year. His business continued production until Georg Jensen took over the production of the annual Christmas cutlery in 2003.
