In the winter of 1979-80, legendary coach Herb Brooks took a collection of two dozen college boys and molded them into the team that shocked the world! They played a grueling schedule of contests against top college, pro and international teams. This historic program is from one of the most memorable games in that series! On November 4 th , 1979 Team USA faced the Birmingham Bulls of the Central Hockey League. Ironically, the Bulls were the top farm club of the Atlanta Flames - the team that held the NHL rights to goalie Jim Craig and had pressured him to sign an NHL contract. A wonderful photo of the eventual Olympic hero is featured on the program cover. He and fellow Boston University standouts Mike Eruzione, Jack O’Callahan and Dave Silk are also pictured inside where they are the subject of a very touching article.
