1982 and 1983 MEXICO 1oz Silver ONZA - BU 1982 KEY DATE – FIRST YEAR : 1982 Mintage = 1,049,680 In 1982 the Mexican Mint started to produce the 1oz.Silver Onza coin (Also know as Libertad), which is made of .999 Fine silver. The design has changed several times since they were first minted, but the silver content has remained the same of the years. It comes shipped in an Air-Tite plastic capsule, and looks as good as the day it was minted!1983 Mintage = 1,001,768 .Silver Mexican Libertads (known as “ONZA’s” in the 1 st Edition of 1982 – 1991), have incredibly low mintages for Bullion Coins, their design is second to none. These coins are rapidly gaining popularity in the United States and are not easy to come by. The ONZA is Mexico's treasure coin and is minted at Casa de Monedade Mexico, the oldest mint in North America, established in 1535.
