This auction is for a 1982 Bally Midway Bump 'n' Jump machine. The machine is in decent condition for being 25 years old. The side art is missing or damaged in some places. The control panel does have some wear but it isn't terrible either. The game PCB's function great with no errors or glitches. The joystick and controls all function great. The cabinet is solid with no moisture damage. It has does have some scratches, dings, and chips but for being 25 years old it is not too bad. The original 19" monitor is not currently installed in the game. The monitor that is installed is a 25" monitor. It has some burn in it but it is not that noticeable when playing the game. The upper right hand corner of the monitor is discolored as if it is magnetized. It may need to be degaussed with a handheld degaussing coil/or may need repair. The photos and screenshots are of the actual game being sold. The monitor that is installed in the game is covered with a piece of smoked plexiglass. Also included is the original monitor (needs repair), bezel, glass bezel overlay, monitor mounting brackets, and an operators manual. The only modification done to accept the 25" monitor was a small area in the back door was routered out so the monitor frame wouldn't hit. I installed a small button in the coin return to add credits to the machine since it could not be set up for freeplay. The button can be easily removed if needed. The lock and key for the front door are installed and functioning. I like to explain the game you are bidding on in as much detail as I can so you have no surprises. I was going to restore the game but ran out of room and time. The dimensions of the game are 68" tall x 25 ½" wide x 34 ½" deep. If you are not familiar with the game is a description from the KLOV website: Join "Jumpin' John" as he goes cruisin' up the road bumping, jumping, and smashing cars. Aside from the cars, you must avoid the sides of the road, breaks in the road (which are usually over water), and rocks in the road which can sometimes be dumped by certain vehicles. Each level is based on a season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) except the first level which seems to have no name. After Winter, it cycles back to Spring again with each level becoming successively harder. When you finish a level, you will pull up to a gas pump that has an icon showing the next level. A flowering tree shows Spring is coming up, a life preserver indicates Summer, a tree with no leaves says Fall is next, and a snowman means Winter is on the way. According to the game, t are 32 unique levels but they do not roll over back to the first level after level 32. The joystick controls the movement and speed of the car. By increasing speed, you not only go faster, but you get the ability to jump after your speed passes 100. The faster you go, the better control the car seems to have. Your car's speed tops out at 220. The big breaks in the road are signaled by a warning exclamation point sign that flashes at the top center of the screen and beeps. Be prepared to jump when you see this. Bumping the cars around you will bounce you in the opposite direction of the bump and can also speed or slow you down based on that direction. The faster your car goes, the less control you seem to lose. If you can finish a level without destroying any cars, you will receive a 50000 point bonus. Try bumping cars only when they are behind you as you will not lose any speed (you will usually speed up, in fact) and you will not lose as much control either. When jumping gaps in the road, if you can manage to land on one of the small islands, you will get a 1000 point bonus. If the road is wide enough and you are driving fast enough, you can actually jump off one side of the screen and reappear on the other side and land without crashing. The wiring harness is compatible with Midway BurgerTime PCBs.
