Because generations change, & the sales on Liquor decanters bottomed out, Jim Beam closed their Regal China plant and discontinued the making of decanters. FOREVER over 15 years ago. How time flies. Read, look and ask questions. Important Note: For those who may have full bottles in their Collection. At times people look at things with OLD eyes, Jim Beam issued a paper to address the subject of Value Ranges with FULL BOTTLES VERSUS EMPTY BOTTLES (CHNA OR PORCELAIN BOTTLES ONLY). I will pass on the information with a last note, also will shorten the information, but have no problem sending a copy with your purchase, please ask if you would like. I did provide these to my clients in store. For years some people have been under the Impression that FULL bottles are worth more than EMPTY bottles. 6 REASONS why this is FALSE, and why one is taking the risk of RUINING the BOTTLE by leaving it FULL. In order to re-sell a full bottle-One must have a Liquor License issued in the state w you live. IF one is caught, fine can be 1,000 to 2,000 (maybe more now) and confiscation of ALL your full bottles. If you have a Liquor License it is illegal to ship full bottles across state lines, any state lines. Whiskey is like wine, if not stored correctly air will get into the bottles. If bottle is 5/6 old the whiskey will have gone bad or evaporated out in 30% to 40% of the bottles. 7/8 =40%to 50% and so forth. Most knowledgeable dealers will bid less for a full bottle, if one has a collection this amounts to a lot of dollars less when selling the collections. All the reason and extra work is costly for the person purchasing the items. Insurance goes up; when they know one has a FULL bottles collection---THING- the type of fire with all the alcohol. Weight of full verses empty, think of full shelves falling in ones home. THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON (if the legal stuff means nothing) -The risk of ruining the bottle by leaving it Full. China or Porcelain bottles are not DESIGNED to store whiskey, only sell it. They will expand and contract with temperature changes causing the glaze on the inside to crack. This is called crazing. One can see this on vintage plates and vases with real fine hair line cracks all over them-this is crazing. The weight of the content will compound the problem and can cause the bottle to become a leaker or crack the bottle. They can become a leaker or crack anytime from the day they are filled to 15 Plus years later. These are facts not an opinion, and I pass on only as a service that might help protect ones investment.
