Takamine GX-200 Vintage & Very Rare You won’t see these amazing instruments come up very oftenand that’s no surprise as there was only a VERY limited amount made and owners don’t like to let these go…simply stunning playing guitars with a neck and playability to die for. This particular guitar was built in 1984 and so just two years away (30 years) from hitting the true vintage mark and then prices will sky rocket. I wish I could keep it just as a pure investment yet I am now financing a hand built guitar that is far from cheap and finances won’t allow me to keep hold of everything. As you can see from the photo’s this is in good condition. It has a few little dings but remarkably not as many as you would expect for a 28 year old instrument. These guitars had one very small so-called weakness…the machineheads! They all seemed to need replacing after 10-15 years; so hardly a weak point I know, yet because the rest of the guitar was built to such a high standard, having tuning pegs that only last about 15 years seems a little naughty! The newer machineheads are the superb Grover and were fitted about 10 years ago. Unfortunately where the screws were tightened it cause tiny cracks to appear in the paint (as pictured ) yet this doesn’t affect playability and the paintcracks haven’t moved for the 10 years or so since they were fitted! read more
