's a rare item for Michael Graves fans.When the celebrated architect's Humana Building was dedicated in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1985, replicas of the building were sold to help commemorate the occasion.The replica takes the form of a gift or cookie tin, with removable lid, that is 9 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Stamped on the recessed bottom is: "THE HUMANA BUILDING / designed by Michael Graves / dedicated June 2, 1985 / Made in England for ACP Enterprises, Inc., Philadelphia PA".We present images of the front, back and top. The lights used to take the photos make the tin's colors appear almost garish, but the colors are more subtle, much like those of the building itself. The canister is in great shape, save for a slight scratch (see image) at the lower right corner of the back. The 26-story Humana Building, a monument to Postmodern architecture, is the recipient of national American Institute of Architects awards and was chosen as one of the 10 best buildings of the '80s by Time magazine.Graves, who was born in 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana, has designed such other structures as the Portland Building in Oregon, the Denver (Colorado) Public Library and the Clos Pegase Winery in Calistoga, California.
