This is a Ulysses S. Grant memorial pin (brooch) from approximately 1885-6.I have been told by an auction house that specializes in Civil War memorabilia that it is a memorial pin made soon after Grant's death. They said they have auctioned some of these off in the past. I will be happy to give you the source privately since they have not given me permission to advertise their name and have also asked me to sell this item at their next auction….but, their auction is too far in the future for me and I am selling my things now. This is an original, real and not a fake, reproduction or copy. I am in my 50’s and received this from my grandfather when I was a kid. My grandfather was born in the late 1800’s (I do not know how my grandfather came to have this pin and neither does my 91 year old father who is still living). The pin is a yellow metal (maybe brass?) and painted porcelain. It’s an oval of 2 ¾” x 2 1/8” and in fantastic condition! This is a unique and irreplaceable piece of Civil War and U.S. Presidential history. I will ship this for free using tracking and insured USPS Priority Mail. This will be shipped within one business day of payment excluding holidays and weekends. You will receive the tracking number emailed to you within one day of shipment as well.
