1986 American Silver Eagle/Walking Liberty 1oz silver dollar. Some history if you are just beginning to look at and collect silver bullion. The word dollar evolves from the German thaler, the name given to the first large-sized European silver coin. The Spanish dollar, or piece of eight, was widely used and familiar to everyone in the British American colonies. It was only natural the word dollar was adopted officially as the standard monetary unit of the United States by Congress on July 6, 1785. Many versions of the American silver dollar have been created since the beginning of it's use. 1986 is when the American Silver Eagle/Walking Liberty was re-introduced into the bullion collection society and still in production today. 1986 is a sought after year! There is some toning on this round that is only visible under magnification. I've tried to photograph that particular area but it's not showing up in it. This coin is excellent for the beginning Numismatic or to add to a current collection of bullion. Dukes Jewelry has been in business for morethan 60 years. Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.
