1988 american eagle gold proof set Set of four 1988 gold American Eagle proofs: 1 Oz $50 1988 , 1/2 Oz $25 1988, 1/4 Oz $10 1988 , and 1/10 Oz $5 1988 . Complete with original case , Blue Box and COA. The American Gold Eagle coin depicts the Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens on the obverse and a "family of eagles" on the reverse. Minted and backed for accuracy of weight and purity by the United States Government Mint. Each gold eagle coin is legal tender of the US government and made of real gold. This beautiful series of coins began in 1986 and continues today. Gold coins are produced in both Proof and Uncirculated condition. (The proofs costing much more.) Comes in four different sizes each having the same design. Face value is in parenthesis. Each gold eagle coins is worth much more than the face value due to the gold content.
