1989 State of Alaska Silver Commemoratives. First year of Issue of this continuing series. Lot of two coins. The one-ounce silver issue and the very rare one-tenth ounce silver coin. Total silver weight is 1.1 Troy ounces. A bit of historical background about these coins. In 1989 the State of Alaska authorized Alaska Precious Metals, an Anchorage dealer to start to mint an official one-ounce coin. The obverse was designed by noted Alaska artist Doug Lindstrom and feature a Polar Bear on an ice flow. Later issues have featured other Alaska highlights and the series is still minted over thirty years later. 1989 was the first year of issue. In addition to the scarce one-ounce business strikes during that first year, APM also minted a handful of 1/10 coins. These are hardly known even among the local Alaskan exonumistmatists. So altogether there are two coins in this lot. The starting bid is one-cent and there is no reserve. Shipping is a flat $3.00 USPS standard in a padded mailer. Sorry, shipping to the US read more
