1992 Disneyana Limited Edition Silver Coin "Steamboat Willie-1928" From the VERY FIRST Disneyana Convention! Featuring Mickey in his very first 'sound' role as 'Steamboat Willie ' on the reverse side! This coin is from my personal collection and I am offering it for the first time as I continue to sell my personal collection. IT IS!!!!! This coin was sold in 1992 at the VERY FIRST Disneyana Convention. It was held at Walt Disney World. It is a very limited edition and extremely hard to find making it highly desireable among collectors. It features a truly special etching of Mickey in his signature role on the reverse side of the coin. It is #28 of a strictly limited edition of 1000.... a very low number ! It is a Proof edition from the Liberty mint. The front of the coin is a raised etching of Mickey's face with " 1st Disneyana Convention " logo and the date "1992" below it. The bottom edge simply says " Walt Disney World Resort ". The reverse side of the coin contains an awesome etching of Mickey Mouse as 'Steamboat Willie'. At the top it says: " Steamboat Willie-1928 ". At the bottom it says" One Troy Ounce " and ". 999 Pure Silver ". It is brand new and totally uncirculated. It has never been out of the case except for the pictures accompanying this listing. The coin is in a protective plastic shield. It has never been touched by human hands. The entire setting is displayed in a beautiful designer satin green box. This is the only coin from the conventions to come in this color box. The box has a few minor discolorations (i.e. the green coloring is darker) on it. They are not from abuse or wear of any kind. It appears it might be from the glue that holds the cloth in place since the darker areas are underneath the cloth covering, not on top. It is not torn or soiled in any way and is still perfect for display use. The inside of the lid is pristine and says "1st Disneyana Convention-1992" "Walt Disney World Resort" in perfect green lettering . It includes Mickey's image and is perfect for display It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity with the official full color 'Disneyana 1992' logo on the front. The silver in the coin is .999 pure and it is one troy ounce. If you attended Disneyana Conventions in the past, you know how terrific they were. The opportunity to go 'behind the scenes' and meet Disney stars and animators made this the top event of the year. This 1992 coin is really quite special! It was from the very first convention! The method of distribution at the 1992 and 1993 conventions was conisderably different compared to future years and many collectors bought multiple numbers of the coins, making them hard to find on the secondary market. With raised etchings on the front and reverse sides, this coin is truly special. 2002 was the last of the Disneyana conventions and it appears Disney has no plans to revive them, making this coin all the more valuable to collectors. It is fifteen years old and is still BRAND NEW. It still looks as beautiful as the day it was purchased. It is truly a fabulous and unique piece of Disney history.
