Hello and Welcome to our auction. You are looking at a lot of two Dolls of the World Barbie dolls. They are the 1994, 3rd edition doll, No 12699 and the 1997 4th edition doll, No. 18558.1994 DOTW, Barbie Dolls of the world Special Edition Native American Barbie, third edition. She is in her original box, never been opened. The back of the box reads:"Hello from the Southern Plains of North America, which include Oklahoma and parts of Nebraska and Kansas. I'm getting ready for a genuine Native American Powwow, and you're invited to come join the fun!Long ago, the powwow began when one tribe wanted to form a friendship with another tribe. There was great feasting on roasted buffalo meat, corn, beans and squash. It was also a time for gift giving. The friendship bag, a deerskin shoulder pouch decorated with porcupine quills, was packed with meat, tobacco, and other gifts and presented as a symbol of friendship and goodwill.Today, tribes gather from all parts of North America for the powwow. A traditional feast is followed by friendly competition between tribes as they perform songs and dances from their past. I'll be leading "the round dance," an age-old tribal dance performed in a circle while holding hands. It originated in the circle camps, where teepees (cone shaped tents) were pitched in a circle, leaving the center free for ceremonies. My dancing outfit is an updated version of a tribal princess costume. It's a mix of traditional style with the latest colors and accessories of today! I"ll be pretty in my pink tunic and skirt with geometric patterns, white fringe and ribbon trim. My moccasins, beaded necklace, turquoise earrings and ring complete my modern day powwow look!I've been looking forward to this celebration for so long! She is in original box, never removed from her box. Back of the box reads:"Hello, I'm Native American Barbie, and I am proud to tell you about my exciting American Indian Heritage; More than 500 tribes of Native Americans once lived all over North America. Each tribe's culture and traditions were influenced by the climate and the location where they lived. Navajos of the Southwest lived by hunting and farming while the Hupa tribe of California lived by Fishing and gathering. As a young girl, I learned to make beautiful pottery, prepare food and make clothing for the family.Recently, an exciting event took place for most Native Americans. The buffalo has long been one of our most sacred animals. In 1994, a White buffalo calf, named Miracle, was born on a ranch in Wisconsin. Her birth, the first of its kind in over one hundred years, signals a new beginning for the land and for all Indian nations, especially the Lakota Indians of the plains. I'm wearing a "buckskin" fringed top with a matching skirt. Turquoise and silver color braided trim highlights my outfit. I have extra long black hair worn with a headband and turquoise feather. In keeping with Native American traditions, I am wearing soft "buckskin" moccasins on my feet. I love to dress this way for my tribe's many ceremonial events. Did you know that we Native Americans were the first Americans! I hope you will learn all you can about our wonderful heritage. Good-bye!"The dolls have never been removed from box, boxes have never been opened. The dolls are mint, the boxes have some wear from years of storage and display. There is a crinkle in the plastic near her head, from the head band up on the fourth edition doll. We have many other Barbies still in original boxes up for sale and auction this week as well.
