Vintage 1996 Luc and Sallie Durette "Sea" KALEIDOSCOPE Please see my other auctions for more fine kaleidoscopes. What an incredible kaleidoscope this is! Named "Sea", this piece was handmade by award-winning artists Luc and Sallie Durette in 1996. This lovely instrument has an object cell that contains dried flowers and leaves that are seen against a black background. Light enters from around the image, so as the viewer moves in reference to the light, various parts of the image brighten while others fade. I cannot tell you how magical the images are...Fantastic! This is really a quality piece.The image is a seven-pointed mandala created by a two-mirror system. The Durettes are known for their skill at choosing just the right components for their object cells, and this kaleidoscope shows that skill to its fullest. This is a rare opportunity to own a vintage Durette 'scope in excellent pre-owned condition. The body is covered in what appears to be hand-painted paper. The Durettes do use hand painting in their work. Please study the photos and come to your own conclusions. Measures 7.75" x 2.5". Brushed brass trim. Read my impeccable feedback and .
