1996 China Silver Proof Unicorn, 1 oz, 10 Yuan, in double sealed mint package/COA. The quality control sticker is inside the pouch but outside the capsule. Usually one sticker for each sheet of 10 coins. The planned mintage is 8,000. This unicorn series was started in 1994 and ended in 1997. During these four years, no more than 34,000 proof 1 oz silver coins were minted. The planned mintage of 1994 is 10,000 and 8,000 for each of the following three years. However, the actual mintages of 1994 and 1995 are 4,403 and 4,004, respectively, based on 2003 Ed. of Catalog of Modern Chinese Gold and Silver Coins and Medals by Ge Zhu Kang. Just like China silver pandas, the design of the coin changes every year, the eastern unicorn is on the obverse and western unicorn on the reverse. T are proof-like 1 oz BU unicorn coins also avaliable for 1994 and 1997. The actual mintages of those two BU coins are not known, but are lower than planned mintage of 50,000 and significantly lower than any BU pandas. These two BU proof-like 1 oz unicorn coins have the same design as Proof in their respective year. The only difference is a "P" marked on the obverse of the proof coins. No p-mark for 1995 and 1996 proof coins, since no BU coin was issued for these two year. T are proof-like 20 gm, 5 Yuan BU unicorn also available in 1996 and 1997. These two small Unicorn coins are very hot items in jewelary market. T are 20, 12 and 5 oz silver proof unicorn issued in each year, but the mintages are very low, less than 1,500. The mintages of gold unicorns are very low vs. gold pandas. For example, the planned mintages of 1 oz and 1/2 oz are less than 2,000 and 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz are about 5,000. The actual mintage of 1997 1/10 oz gold unicorn, the only gold unicorn issued in this year, is believed to be lower than 1,000, even though the planned mintage is 5,000. All coins are guaranteed to be 100% authentic. Refund will be given on all items less S/H charge if you do not like the coin, as long as you notify me within three days and it is returned in the original condition within seven days. Pictures show the exact coin received.
