1996 SILVER EAGLE DOLLAR with a flaw

First of all, let me say that I am NOT a dealer in any type of coins; nor am I a photographer
or a serious collector. I am a great-grandmother who has decided to part with a few things. 1996 SILVER EAGLE DOLLAR with a flaw of some sort. I tried to focus in on the date on the coin so you could see the damage or flaw or whatever it's called. It looks like it got hit or someone tried to change it or something...I'm not sure what could be gained by attempting to change the date. Could it have been hit wrong at the mint? Maybe some criminal had it in his pocket and got shot and the silver dollar stopped it....NOT very likely. I have no idea what happened to the coin. I have the box and COA on the coin saying it is a 1996 proof from the Philadelphia mint but I'll be doggoned if I can find a mint mark on it. It doesn't seem to me to have the deep lustre that a proof Eagle has either so I'm going to just call it a 1996 Silver Eagle with a flaw of some sort. If you want me to try to take some better pictures, please let me know and I will try my best to do so.
