9 PROOF SET'S 1999 thur 2007 QUARTER'S ONLY AND THE NEWLY RELEASED 2009 QUARTER PROOF SET 9 Proof (Clad) Quarter Set's for 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and the newly released 2009 Six Coin Proof Quarter Set -all have a cameo-mirror proof appearance's, all bear the "S" mint mark (San Francisco Mint). The Proof Quarters are 1999 Delaware - 2009 Northern Mariana Islands. Some of the tab's on the Boxes may have a little wear -this happens when the Box has been opened and closed, or the corner or corner's may have some wear on a couple but are in good condition. Below is information you may find interesting to read; Our United States quarter's history originates with the Spanish colonial 8 reales coin. Prior to the birth of the United States, the Spanish reales was used as currency in colonial America, The reales was sometimes cut into 8 pieces or "bits". Two bits were considered one-quarter of a dollar, hence the use of the term "two bit" to describe a quarter. Later, the Mint Act of 1792 April 12, authorized our first mint in Philadelphia to create quarter-dollar coins. these coins were first produced in 1796. Only a few hundred of them still exist. Several different quarter dollars have been produced over the years, including the Bust Type, Liberty type, and Barber (Liberty Head). In 1932, the Washington quarter was produced to commemorate the 200th birthday of George Washington. In 1975, a bicentennial Washington quarter was produced to commemorate the American Revolution. This coin was produced two years: 1975 and 1976 (Note: I didn't know this!)
